The radiant is the least understood cut we sell. These are the questions that come up before people order it.
At the same carat weight, usually. A rectangle spreads the weight across a wider face than a circle does, so more of the stone points at whoever you're talking to. On an ear, where nobody studies the stone from the side, that's most of the argument for it.
The outline is nearly identical. The faceting isn't. An emerald cut is a step cut and gives broad flashes; a radiant is brilliant-faceted underneath, so it scintillates like a round. Same silhouette, different behavior in light.
Less than a princess cut's are. A radiant's corners are cropped rather than pointed, which takes the weak spot off the stone before it ever reaches a setting. Earrings also take fewer knocks than rings do.
It's what we list ready to order in radiant, and radiant studs go out in smaller numbers than round. Rather than pad the page with the same design in three more weights, we keep it to what's real.
